1 year for stealing liquor from ice cream case

A Bradford County man was sentenced to one year and one week in state prison after pleading to stealing a case of liquor from a local retailer.

Kelvin Hamm Sr., 59, pleaded to the February 23 offense of felony petit theft. The defendant’s previous convictions include three thefts, two batteries, fraud, trespassing, driving with a suspended license, and a weapons charge.

According to an arrest report, the owner of S & M Discount Beverage on Brownlee Street saw the defendant take the alcohol while it was resting on top of the store’s ice cream case. Police later viewed video of the theft, and the owner picked the defendant out in a photo lineup. The retail value of the merchandise was $120.
