A 39-year-old Gainesville woman was sentenced to one year with the Department of Corrections after pleading to battery on an emergency medical technician.

According to an arrest report, Elizabeth Anne Bannister was caught prowling around a Lawtey-area home on November 18, 2024.

Deputies found the 39-year-old leaving the exterior storage building of a residence on County Road 200B.

“Elizabeth appeared to be confused and stated she had been walking on the side of the road and was seeing things,” wrote Deputy Benjamin Norsworthy in the report. “Elizabeth also advised she had previously used Methamphetamines on (sic) yesterday.”

Norsworthy wrote that while being evaluated by Bradford Fire Rescue, the defendant “became irate and began to strike” a 23-year-old female EMT.

The deputy reported that while gathering the defendant’s shoes in the storage building, he found what appeared to be excrement on the floor.

He added, “Elizabeth stated that something had come out of her and felt as if she was having a child.”
