Dejor Jaerail Hill, 34, of Starke, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading to ramming a truck in which his ex-girlfriend was a passenger.

According to court papers, the victims, a 37-year-old man and a 31-year-old female were parked in the man’s pickup in front of the woman’s home when Hill drove up to the Lincoln City residence and confronted the pair.

The couple drove off with Hill in pursuit.  Once the pickup reached the intersection of Southeast 46th Place and Southeast 143rd Terrace, Hill drove his Ford Crown Victoria into the left front side of the pickup, causing substantial damage. The defendant then rammed the pickup a second time, forcing the victims into a ditch.

The truck’s driver told deputies he got his vehicle out of the ditch, drove to a nearby Aldi, and called 911.

A deputy noted in a warrant affidavit that at the time of the incident, Hill was on felony probation and was prohibited from contacting his ex-girlfriend.

In a plea petition approved by Judge James Colaw, Hill pleaded to one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and to leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. The state dropped an additional charge of aggravated battery.
