STARKE— A 20-year-old Waldo man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after admitting to robbing two people at gunpoint during a dirt bike sale.
Aaron Tyler Higgins pleaded to two counts of robbery with a firearm. Prosecutors dropped additional charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the two victims told Bradford Detective Joseph Shiller that Higgins and another man were buying two dirt bikes from the victims when the buyers pulled a black handgun on them.
“(The suspects) told both victims to get in the back of (Higgins’s) truck and drove off with both victims in the truck against their will,” Shiller wrote. “Higgins and an unknown suspect dropped the two victims off at SE CR (230)A and SE CR 100A.”
The detective added that the suspects told both victims they would kill them if they called police.
The victims provided Shiller with Higgins’s phone number and a description of the decals on the defendant’s truck.
