2 batters drive in 3 runs each in Tigers’ 15-0 softball victory

Campbell Webb hit a three-run double as part of an eight-run first inning, while pitcher Lily Neal gave up just two hits in the Union County High School softball team’s 15-0, four-inning win over visiting Hawthorne on April 13.

Tamia Young and Angela Tucker also drove in multiple runs in the first inning for the top-ranked, Class 1A Tigers (13-2). Young began the inning with a single, advancing to second on the throw. She stole third before scoring on a Tucker single. Hailey Rivera singled, while Nyasia Williams was hit by a pitch to load the bases. All three runners scored on Webb’s double.

After two straight outs, Union scored another four runs in the inning. Maggie Thomas walked before Webb scored on a Hannah Rivera single. Young and Tucker came to bat for the second time, with Young hitting a two-run triple and Tucker hitting a one-run single.

Tucker, who went 3 for 4, and Webb each finished with three RBI. Williams and Young each went 2 for 2 with two RBI. Williams’ two RBI came on a triple in the third inning.

Hayley Burke, Leah Clark and Hannah Rivera each had one RBI.

Neal struck out six, giving up one walk.

Union travels to play Dixie County on Tuesday, April 19, at 7 p.m. and will host Bell on Thursday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m. The Tigers host Williston on Monday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m. and then host Columbia on Tuesday, April 26, at 6 p.m.
