Pamela Marlene Foster, 58, passed away on Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, in Dade City while visiting family. She had lived in Starke. Pamela was born on May 10, 1968, in Jacksonville. Pamela was a Baptist by faith, and devoted to her Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved everyone with her whole heart and was truly a beautiful soul. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Foster; and her parents, James and Betty Parrish.
Pamela is survived by her cousins; her aunt, Bobbie Bryant; her dog, Simon; and many friends and loved ones.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Heilbronn Baptist Church, 21354 N.W. S.R. 16, Starke.

Nancy Kuhutek
Nancy “Snookie” Kuhutek (Fairfield), a beloved sister, aunt, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully in Brooker on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, at the age of 85. Born in Indiana on Sept. 20, 1940, Nancy spent her early years building a foundation there before embarking on a new chapter in the late 1970s, when she moved to Canada. In the late 1980s, driven by a deep desire to be closer to her family, she made her final move to Brooker. She quickly rooted herself in the local community, where she became a familiar, comforting presence to neighbors and locals alike. An entrepreneur and dedicated worker, she owned Brooker Grocery for several years, serving her neighbors with pride. Later, she spent over 20 years as a devoted employee at Wards Supermarket, where her warm smile and hardworking nature left a lasting impression on generations of shoppers. Her life was defined by the things she loved most, her family, the great outdoors, her deep affection for animals, and her unwavering faith in Jesus. An avid outdoorswoman, “Snookie” was truly in her element when she was fishing or hunting. Above all, she treasured the quiet moments spent surrounded by the people she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Juanita Fairfield; as well as siblings Jack Fairfield, Alberta “Birdi” Jones and Kenny “BooBoo” Fairfield.
She is survived by a loving family who will miss her deeply, including her devoted siblings, Dorthy Sarver of Crawfordville, Indiana, Ernie (Diana) Fairfield of Crawfordsville, Indiana, Dennis (Gladys) Fairfield of Brooker, Steve (Jackie) Fairfield of Calyton, North Carolina and Karen Smith of Brooker. Nancy also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. Her warmth, adventurous spirit, and steadfast faith will be forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Etta Lee
Etta Wanell Lee, 83, of Lake Butler passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026. She was born March 3, 1943, at Camp Blanding. Wanell was adopted by George and Carolyn Sandel at the young age of 8 after her mother, Edith Brannen, passed away. She grew up in Worthington Springs and enjoyed life on a farm. She met the love of her life, James M. Lee, at a high school dance when she was 17 and they were later married. Wanell was mainly a stay-at-home mom, raising three boys and a daughter. With her children mostly grown she went to work at Union County High School in the cafeteria and later worked with special-needs kids. She was very active in church, teaching Sunday school and working with the youth group. She loved the outdoors and working in the yard growing plants and flowers. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending as much time as she could with them. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee; her mother, Edith Brannen; adoptive parents, Gary and Carolyn Sandel; and her brother, Eddie Dekle.
Wanell leaves behind a family that will truly miss her. Her children, Eddie (Becky) Lee, Joey (Christian) Lee, Gary Lee, and Lynell Lee; grandchildren Alan (Angel) Lee, Ryan (Lauren) Lee, Amanda (Jason) Bradley, Misty (Adam) Graham, Wyatt Lee, Chase Lee, Cheyenne Lee, Michaelyn (Titus) Odom, Shelbi Sweat, Garrison (Cierra) Lee, Shane (Tiffany) Lee and Shanell Lee; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Lavonia Belle Yarbrough Link, 97, of Melrose died Monday, Aug. 31, 2026. She attended Eliam Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elmo Yarbrough and Richard Link; three grandchildren; and six siblings.
She is survived by children, Maria (Teddy) Seypura and Clifford Yarbrough; brothers, Robert “Bobby” Griffis and Franklin Griffis; and extended family members.
Viewing will be Friday, Sept. 4 at 10 a.m. at Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. at Eliam Cemetery.

Janey Rowell
Mrs. Janey Bell Rowell, 90, passed away Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026, in Odenton, Maryland. Janey was born in Starke and was the youngest of 10 children born to Levi and Lilian Beatrice Rhoden. She married James Benjamin Rowell on Jan. 31, 1953, and they lived in Gainesville for several years before moving to Starke. In 2003, they moved to Lake Butler to be closer to their son, Randy. Janey enjoyed working in patient care in nursing homes until an injury led her to becoming a full-time homemaker. An avid genealogist, she also enjoyed working with her husband in their garden. Her family, her faith, and her friends were the important things in her life, especially after her husband died in 2003. In 2021 she moved in with her son, Doug, in Maryland, but she made sure to talk regularly with her friends back home. In January this year she moved into Heart Homes memory care following some additional health challenges. Janey was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in both her Florida and Maryland congregations and enjoyed fellowship with many people.
Janey had two sons, James (Randy) Benjamin Jr. who passed away in 2015, and Douglas Edward. She was grandmother to Michael, Chip (James Benjamin III), Verity, Rebecca and Daniel; and great- grandmother to five great- grandsons, Hugh, Caiden, Gavin, Oliver, and Wylder and three great-granddaughters Caitlyn, Charley, and Kylie.
A graveside service and burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m.

Linda Vogel
Linda Katherine Vogel, 83, of Keystone Heights passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka. She was born Dec. 22, 1942, in Bloomington, Illinois, to the late Joseph and Ruby (Aspel) Vogel. Linda graduated from Trinity High School in Bloomington, Illinois in 1961. She attended both Illinois State University and Troy State University. She proudly served in the US Army for six years and in the US Army Reserves for 30 years, attaining the rank of Sergeant Major. Linda worked for many years at the Florida Department of Transportation before beginning a second career as a lawyer, graduating from Florida Coastal School of Law. She often served as Guardian Ad Litem, advocating for the best interests of children. She was preceded in death by an infant brother and is survived by her siblings, Joan Vogel of Boca Raton, Shannon (Bill) Perry of Loveland, Colorado, Jerome Vogel of Leitchfield, Kentucky, Dennis Vogel of Minier, Illinois, Marilyn Meister of Atlanta, Georgia, and Gregory (Joan) Vogel of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and multiple nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved Australian mix dog, Penny, who has been lovingly adopted by a friend.
Linda was a longtime parishioner at St. William Catholic Church in Keystone Heights, where she built lasting bonds with her church community and made many good friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to St. William Catholic Church at 210 S.W. Peach St., Keystone Heights 32656. There will be a memorial mass for her at St. William Catholic Church in Keystone Heights on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon reception will be held in the church hall following the service. She will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery.

James Wilkerson Sr.
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of James Louis Wilkerson Sr., 97, who passed away Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026, at his home in Lawtey. He was born April 9, 1929, in Bradford County to the late Andrew James and Edith (Padgett) Wilkerson. James lived a life marked by dedication to his family and a deep commitment to his country. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he enlisted on Jan. 11, 1951, and served honorably until his discharge on Oct. 10, 1953, achieving the rank of Sergeant. For his valor and service, he was awarded the Purple Heart, a testament to his bravery and commitment during his military career. He was a lifelong resident of Lawtey, where he cherished the simple joys of life. He grew up attending Highland Baptist Church and retired from Merita Bakery in Jacksonville. He enjoyed the peaceful pursuits of gardening and fishing. Above all, he deeply loved spending time with his grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will endure in their hearts forever. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Carolyn (Taylor) Wilkerson; and grandchildren, Andrew Wilkerson and two Kilby baby boys.
He is survived by his children, James Wilkerson Jr. of Lawtey, Kathy (Richard) Gains of Starke, Gertrude “Ginny” (Jason) Mallicoat of Starke, Sharon Goodwin of Hampton, and Carl (Stephanie) Wilkerson of Lawtey; sister, Hope Carroll of Lake Helen. Also left are his eight grandchildren, Jay Wilkerson of Raiford, Shay and Chris Forsyth of Starke, Jammie and Donnie Freeman of Tampa, James and Barbara Kilby of Starke, Jessica and David Green of Hampton, Jason and Stacy Kilby of Starke, Randy Kilby of Starke and Grady and Savanna Wilkerson of Starke; along with 23 great grandchildren.
Funeral services to honor James’s remarkable life were held Wednesday, Sept. 2. A visitation for family and friends took place at DeWitt C. Jones Chapel, followed by the funeral service. Interment took place at Long Branch Cemetery, where James was laid to rest with military honors. In this time of loss, the family invited all who knew James to join them in celebrating his life and legacy, paying tribute to a man who exemplified strength, kindness, and devotion to his family and country.
