BHS volleyball team defeats West Nassau 3-2

Bradford High School’s volleyball team bounced back from its Sept. 30 loss to Keystone Heights by defeating visiting West Nassau 3-2 (25-15, 22-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-12) on Oct. 5.

The Tornadoes (7-8) got eight kills each from Takeirra Bakken, Ajiyah Jackson and Kencie Wainwright. Bakken also added 15 assists, 11 digs, five service aces and two blocks, while Wainwright led the team in aces with seven.

Jackson recorded a team-high 13 blocks, while Raven Ford had seven.

Rylie Blankenship led the team in digs with 37, while Brooklynn Reddish and Ashley Brady had 12 and 10, respectively. Kiersten Hodges added eight digs.

Bradford played Palatka this past Monday and Eastside this past Tuesday. The Tornadoes hosted Baldwin on Wednesday, Oct. 13, and conclude the regular season at home against Branford on Thursday, Oct. 14, at 5:30 p.m.

The Tornadoes play in the District 7-1A tournament next week at Union County High School. According to the Florida High School Athletic Association, Bradford, as the third seed, will play a semifinal match against second seed Newberry on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. If Bradford wins, it’ll play for the championship against either top seed Union or fourth seed Hilliard on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m.
