The following is a paid political advertisement, paid for by Virginia R. Warner, candidate for Lawtey City Council.
To all the good people of Lawtey:
It has been my privilege to serve our community as a city councilwoman for the last 12 years, and I’m asking you for your support, again, to serve for another four years. My extended family members have been Lawtey residents for over 100 years, and I’ve lived here since 2003 when I moved into the house where my father was born.
Over the past 12 years, I have been responsible to you in overseeing the recreation department; spent seven years involved with the city water and sewer infrastructure, and the last four years dedicated to upgrading our volunteer fire department into a fully paid public service organization.
While working with the city water and sewer administration, I helped in procuring funds-grants worth several million dollars to pay for system upgrades during construction phases 2, 3 and 4.
My real labor of love began when I was assigned responsibility for our volunteer fire department. My husband and two sons have collectively served, voluntarily, for 30 years to protect our citizens and all the structures within the city boundary. I take great pride playing a small part in seeing our volunteer fire department transition from a small one room, three-bay service building to an all-paid professional emergency organization housed in a totally brand new self-contained live-in facility. I assisted in bringing in our very first Emergency Medical Services unit to augment our new fire department. This has increased our ability to assist Lawtey residents in all types of emergencies outside of just fire protection. I’m extremely proud of this accomplishment.
With your support, if reelected I look forward to focusing my efforts back with the water and sewer department as we need to raise more government money-grants to replace the antiquated water lines within the city.
I love this community and will always do my best to make it better. We still have work to do and I’m asking for your support.
Vote for Virginia Warner, City Councilwoman on Dec. 7.
