Hope Christian Academy opened boys basketball season in a big way on Nov. 12, defeating visiting Hart 2 Hart Academy 89-22.
The Lions outscored the Warriors 31-3 in the first quarter and led 50-10 at halftime.
Jude Hanson and Simon Hanson scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, while Roshad Jackson scored 12. Simon Hanson led the team in steals with three, while Jackson recorded a team-high four assists.
Eduardo Marrero, who led the team in rebounds with six, scored six points, as did Marcus Chever and Trey Matthew. Aiden Wilson and Tavian Frazier scored five and four points, respectively, while John Ford had three. Traven Chandler added two points, with Luke Drew chipping in one point.
Hope (2-0) won by double digits again on Nov. 18, defeating visiting Corinth Christian 59-21. Stats weren’t available by deadline, but Jude Hanson was named the Lions’ Player of the Game — an honor he received for the Hart 2 Hart game as well.
The Lions played Branford this past Monday and will travel to play Live Oak’s Westwood Christian on Thursday, Dec. 2, at 6 p.m. Hope travels to Madison to play New Testament Christian on Friday, Dec. 3, at 5:30 p.m. and travels to play Gainesville Christian Community on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m.
