Quinten Rawls led three players in double-figure scoring for the Union County High School boys basketball team, which opened its season with a 61-57 win over visiting Bell on Dec. 2.
Rawls scored 14 points, while also dishing out a team-high four assists. Thomas Williams and Cole Andersen-Davis had 12 and 10 points, respectively, with Andersen-Davis also grabbing a team-high six rebounds.
Tahj Merriex and Johnté Nichols each scored six points, while Dayviontae Thompson had five. Gavin Jenkins and Dee Williams each added three points, with Kyler Cohen chipping in two.
Nichols led the team in assists with five, while Merriex added three to go along with his team-leading two steals.
Thompson grabbed five rebounds.
The Tigers (1-0) play at Trenton tonight at 8 p.m. and will host Lafayette on Thursday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. Union hosts Hilliard on Friday, Dec. 10, and Crescent City on Monday, Dec. 13, with both games tipping off at 7:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, Dec. 14, the Tigers travel to play Baldwin at 7 p.m.
