MELROSE— As they have done for the past three years, the Democratic Women’s Club of the Lakes Area adopted needy families from the Sonshine Daycare Center in Melrose this holiday season.
Three families with five children under five, including a set of 4-year-old twins were the focus of the club’s efforts this year.
Individual club members do the shopping for the children based on a list put together by the school.
Then the entire club meets to wrap the gifts while enjoying each other’s company, some holiday cheer and sharing good food. It is an evening of laughter and fun.
The gifts including monetary gift cards for the families are then delivered to Sunshine Daycare who then serves as Santa to the families.
The Democratic Women’s Club of the Lakes Area feels that this is just one more way it can fulfill its responsibility to give back to the community as much as possible and wishes everyone a Joyous Holiday and a safe, prosperous, and healthy New Year.
