Hope Christian Academy took on Branford for the fourth time in three years, with the Lions recording their first win over the public school by a score of 53-47 in a Jan. 6 home game.
Branford defeated Hope by an average of 20 points per game in two meetings in 2019-20 and handed the Lions a 78-46 defeat earlier this season on Nov. 29.
In the Jan. 6 matchup, the Lions trailed 11-8 heading into the second quarter before outscoring the Bucs 31-18 in the second and third quarters.
The Lions (11-2) most recently played Live Oak’s Westwood Christian, defeating the visiting Warriors 64-45. It was Hope’s fifth straight win and ninth in their last 10 games.
Hope’s last loss occurred on Dec. 17. The Lions returned to action after the holiday break with an 80-56 win over High Springs’ First Christian.
The Lions are scoring an average of 67 points per game. Their average margin of victory is 29 points.
Hope hosts Madison’s New Testament Christian on Thursday, Jan. 13, at 6:30 p.m. The Lions then host Starke’s Northside Christian on Friday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, Jan. 18, Hope hosts Gainesville Christian Community at 7 p.m.
