STARKE— Khalya Aricia Coleman, 19, was arrested by Starke police on Jan. 3 for battery on medical personnel.
According to an arrest report, the defendant injured several nurses at Starke ER. Witnesses told arresting officer Kaleb T. Dockery that while receiving treatment, the defendant began acting erratically, pulled out her IV and tried to run out of the facility.
“When Coleman was restrained, she began biting, scratching and kicking multiple nurses,” Dockery wrote. “By doing this Coleman injured multiple staff members leaving superficial scratches, bite marks and abrasions.”
Dockery added that the defendant was originally brought to the emergency room for having “an altered mental status.”
