FLEMING ISLAND— Clay County Public Schools Superintendent David Broskie gave Keystone Heights Elementary School administrators a statewide award for implementing positive behavior policies at the school.

Broskie said the policies: positive behavior intervention and support, is a systematic approach to teaching and managing behavior in schools.

Broskie also gave the award to Doctor’s Inlet Elementary, Tynes Elementary, Wilkinson Elementary and Oakleaf Senior High School during the Thursday, Jan. 6 school board meeting.

“There is no doubt that in order for students to learn, a conducive atmosphere for learning must be present,” Broskie said.  “These particular schools that we’re going to honor tonight have shown a commitment to a culture of learning that addresses high expectations for student behavior through systems of change,”

Broskie gave each school a banner to display on their campuses.

Assistant Principal Kayleigh Williams and teacher Jenn Cumbus accepted the award on behalf of Keystone Elementary.
