STARKE — Bradford County commissioners have approved a new subdivision in the south end of the county.
Unlike other subdivisions approved in the recent past, this will be a major subdivision containing 32 half-acre lots.
Known as Indian Lake Ranch Phase II, the subdivision is located off Southeast Eighth Avenue, near the Wounded Warriors Indian Lake Ranch, according to Zoning Director Randy Andrews.
“There will be no infrastructure as far as the development of properties is concerned other than sidewalks after the units have been given a certificate of completion,” he said.
Roads are not proposed as part of the project. The dwellings will be served by Clay Electric Cooperative and have private wells and septic tanks.
According to Commissioner Danny Riddick, another 22-unit subdivision is also being proposed in the area. He said conversations with Clay County Utility Authority about serving the subdivisions with water and sewer were unsuccessful.
“It makes me sick that we couldn’t work out something with CCUA to get the water and sewer run down that road before all these houses went in,” he said.
Even though the authority would be collecting the fees, he said they wanted Bradford County to pay for the extensions.
