Ax attacker threatens second neighbor with knife

STARKE— A Bradford County man released on bond after attacking his neighbor with an ax was arrested a second time after threatening another neighbor with a pocketknife.

Bradford deputies arrested 71-year-old Alton James Boles on Friday, Feb. 25 for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. The victim told deputies that during a verbal dispute, the defendant struck the victim with an ax on his head, neck and back. The victim was transported to UF Health Shands under a trauma alert.

One week after being released on a $25,000 bond for the Feb. 25 incident, deputies arrested Boles a second time for threatening a different neighbor with a pocketknife.

According to an arrest report, Boles made the threat after claiming the victim drove over his property.

Two days after the second arrest, Boles made bail again after posting a $50,000 bond. The defendant and his victims live in the area of State Road 16 and County Road 229A.
