The employees of West Fraser Timber Company have, once again, demonstrated the kind of compassion for members of the community who may be struggling financially during the current pandemic. These generous and “civic-minded” employees have donated $10,000 to the Union County Schools Foundation to support the needs of struggling families.
Josh Crawford, the General Manager of West Fraser, contacted the foundation to share that he and his employees wanted, for the second time, to work with the foundation to provide food, clothing and any other academic needs to families and children during these challenging financial times.
The local foundation was happy to work in collaboration with the school district staff to identify children and families who had the greatest need for these resources. The foundation thanked Mike Spires, owner of Spires IGA, and his staff for their cooperation and support in allowing families to shop utilizing vouchers for food provided by West Fraser.
The foundation also thanked school counselors and administrators for dispersing funds to support students who need specific clothing items, backpacks, school supplies, or any academic or educational support. These resources will be instrumental to the success of many struggling students.
“The generosity and compassion of the employees of West Fraser are certainly qualities that make our small county a great place for our children to grow and learn.,” the company stated in a release. “Thank you to the men and women of our community!”
