Bradford High School’s softball team was held to one run through the first six innings, returning to action after spring break with a 4-2 loss to host Yulee on March 28.
Yulee took advantage of two walks, a single and a wild pitch to go up 2-0 in the bottom of the first.
The Tornadoes (6-3) got an inside-the-park home run from Hannah McFarland in the top of the second, but the Hornets answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning.
Trailing 4-1, Bradford got a one-out single from Kiersten Hodges in the top of the seventh. After a ground out, Allie Funderburk hit a run-scoring double. The game ended with the next at-bat on a fly out.
McFarland finished 2 for 2.
Funderburk’s double was one of two for the Tornadoes, with Taylor Reddish hitting the other.
Reddish, who entered the game at pitcher with no outs in the first, gave up two runs on three hits through six innings.
The Tornadoes host Williston on Wednesday, March 30, at 7 p.m. before traveling to play North Marion on Thursday, March 31, at 7 p.m.
On Monday, April 4, Bradford travels to play Orange Park at 6:30 p.m.
