BHS boys, KHHS girls earn wins in March 28 tennis action

Keystone Heights High School hosted Bradford for tennis on March 28, with the Tornadoes’ boys team winning 5-2 and the Indians’ girls team winning 4-3.

The Tornadoes won all but one of the singles matches on the boys side. In the number-one slot, Joshua Higginbotham defeated Keystone’s Evan Booth 8-3, while Zachary Clatyon defeated the Indians’ Curran Capper 8-5 at the number-two slot.

Keystone’s number-three seed Dalton Moore defeated Bradford’s Gideon Jordan 8-6, but the Tornadoes took the wins at number four and number five, with Calum Butler defeating Ethan Teague 8-6 and Hayden Knight defeating Beckett Capper 8-3.

In boys doubles, Bradford’s number-one team of Higginbotham and Clayton defeated Booth and Curran Caplper 8-5. Keystone’s number-two team of Moore and Teague defeated Butler and Troy Smith 8-6.

On the girls’ side, Keystone’s top three seeds each earned an 8-1 win, with Tara Tarvit defeating Alexandria Wells, Rebecca Lasca defeating Mary-Jane Lebert and Whitnee Buchanan defeating Reagan Harris.

Bradford would get the wins at the number-four and number-five slots, with Brooklyn Reddish defeating Reagan Feldpausch 8-3 and Caitlyn Jackson defeating Shaylynn Williams 8-5.

At number-one doubles, the Indians’ team of Tarvit and Lasca defeated Wells and Harris 8-4. The Tornadoes’ number-two team of Lebert and Reddish defeated Buchanan and Olivia Yount 8-5.
