UCHS baseball team defeats Dixie Co. 11-0

Ayden Elixson, Trevor Holtzendorf and Eli Rimes each drove in two runs, while Quinten Rawls threw a five-hit shutout in the Union County High School baseball team’s 11-0, five-inning win over host Dixie County on April 7.

The Tigers (8-6) scored four runs in each of the first two innings.

With Jay Cohen and Tre’von Lee on with two outs in the first, Elixson walked. Rimes then hit a 1-2 pitch into center field for a double, scoring Cohen and Lee. Elixson scored on a Holtzendorf single, while Rimes scored on a wild pitch.

Rawls was hit by a pitch to lead off the top of the second. Following a Jake O’Steen walk, Cohen hit a single to score Rawls. One out later, Elixson hit a double to score O’Steen and Cohen. Holtzendorf hit a two-out single to score Elixson and put Union ahead 8-0.

Holtzendorf and Rawls each went 2 for 2 and were the Tigers’ only multi-hit batters.

Cohen and Lee each had one RBI.

On the mound, Rawls struck out six and gave up just one walk.

Union hosts Keystone Heights on Tuesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. The Tigers then travel to play Oak Hall on Monday, April 18, at 4:15 p.m.
