KEYSTONE HEIGHTS— The St. Johns River Water Management District said that rainfall in March, which was more that double the month’s average, pushed water levels on Lake Brooklyn to 101.5 feet, a gain of 1.5 feet during the month.
The district said in a news release that although rain throughout the district averaged 7.03 inches, Alachua County recorded 11.7 inches of precipitation.
“Districtwide, the cumulative rainfall total for the past 12 months is 54.22 inches, which is 3.21 inches above the long-term average,” the district said.
The district also reported that river flows in the St. Johns and St. Mary’s rivers, along with their tributaries, were in the average or high ranges.
However, flows in the district’s springs dropped, including flows in Silver Springs, Rock Springs and Wekiwa Springs.
