Kaelyn Booker won a championship for Bradford High School, which will send a total of two individuals and three relay teams to regional competition after their performances at the District 3-2A track and field finals on April 21 at Santa Fe High School.
Booker’s first-place time of 1:01 in the 400m placed her ahead of Santa Fe’s Chandramukhi Zaldivar, who had a time of 1:03.
The top four finishers in each event will advance to the Region 1 finals on Thursday, May 5, at Tommy Oliver Stadium in Panama City.
Bradford had three girls relay teams earn third-place finishes. The 4x100m team of Booker, Diamond Ferguson, Holly Holt and Alyssa Hunt had a time of 55.51, while the 4x400m team, which consisted of the same lineup, had a time of 4:46. Layne Loper, Lindsey McCoy, Alissa Reddish and Natalie Thomas teamed up to run a time of 13:11 in the 4x800m.
Reddish earned a fourth-place finish individually with a time of 15:28 in the 3200m.
In the girls 1600m, Thomas and Reddish were seventh and eighth, respectively, with times of 6:55 and 7:00. Loper was 10th (8:23).
McCoy took 10th in the 800m (2:58), with Jillian Lee and Loper finishing 13th and 14th, respectively, with times of 3:26 and 3:43.
In the 400m, Holt was seventh (1:09), while Hunt was ninth (1:14).
Jordan Barton and Silas Markwich competed for the boys team in two events. Barton was 13th in the 1600m with a time of 5:51, while Markwich was 14th (6:11). Markwich also ran the 800m, finishing 15th (2:44).
