Host Bolles took advantage of five errors in defeating the Bradford High School softball team 6-5 on April 25.
The Tornadoes (13-6) committed errors on balls put into play by the first three batters in the bottom of the second. Another two errors in the inning would score two runs. The Bulldogs also scored runs on a double, a single and a sacrifice fly.
Masey Padgett hit an RBI single in the fifth to make it a 6-4 game. Bradford had only one out in the inning and had two runners on, but a fly out and a ground out ended the inning without any more runs scored.
Takeirra Bakken went 3 for 4 with an RBI triple, while Padgett and Taylor Reddish each went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Cassidy Spratlin went 2 for 3.
Allie Funderburk and Kirsten Hodges each had one RBI.
Reddish pitched a complete game, giving up only three hits.
The Tornadoes went 2-0 the previous week, which began with a 14-11 win over host Columbia on April 19.
Bradford scored four runs in the top of the seventh, which gave them the eventual win. Padgett drew a leadoff walk and scored on a Bakken double. After a Spratlin single, Bakken scored on an error. Hodges’ sacrifice scored Spratlin, while a Rylie Blankenship ground ball allowed Amber Wynn to score.
Spratlin went 3 for 4 with two RBI, while Bakken and Padgett each went 2 for 3. Bakken hit a solo home run and had two RBI.
Reddish, who hit an RBI double, and Hannah McFarland each drove two runs.
Blankenship, Hodges and Wynn each had one RBI, with Blankenship going 2 for 4.
On April 22, the Tornadoes had four batters drive in two runs each in a 12-2, 4.5-inning win over visiting Interlachen.
Bakken hit a two-run double as part of a four-run first inning, while a seven-run third inning featured a two-run double by Reddish and a two-run single by Madison Highland.
McFarland, who went 2 for 3, also had two RBI.
Padgett went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI, while Blankenship was 2 for 2 with a double.
Funderburk and Spratlin each had one RBI.
Spratlin started in the circle, giving up two runs on two hits and one walk through 4.2 innings. Blankenship entered the game to record the final out.
Bradford travels to play Bishop Snyder on Tuesday, April 26, at 6 p.m. to conclude the regular season.
