Keystone’s Freedom 5K will be held July 2

For the third year, the Jordan Cooper Memorial Scholarship Fund will present the Freedom 5K run in Keystone Heights on Saturday, July 2, at 8 a.m. The run will start and finish at City Hall, located at 555 Lawrence Blvd.

Registration can be done in person at Firepower Coffee and Genesis Fitness in Keystone Heights or online at runsignup.com. Click on “Find a Race” and enter “Freedom 5K” and the 32656 zip code for a link.

The cost to enter is $40 through July 1. Race-day registration, held on site, costs $45.

Participants will receive finisher medals and performance shirts.

The race is provided with the support of the city of Keystone, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County Fire Department and Florida Department of Transportation.

This year’s platinum sponsor is Lake Area McDonald’s, while the gold sponsors are Firepower Coffee, Genesis Fitness, Clay Electric, Santa Fe Title and Keystone RV Resort. The Jordan Cooper Memorial Scholarship Fund is a 501(c)(3), all-volunteer, non-profit organization, which was formed to honor the memory of Jordan Cooper, who died in 2017 at the age of 25. The organization primarily supports local students with scholarships, including graduating high school seniors from Keystone Heights High School, where Cooper was an alumnus.
