Hello, my name is James Rooney Jr, more commonly known as J.R. Rooney. I am running for County Commissioner District 4.
I’ve grown up most of my life in Union County, more specifically the District 4 Providence area. I started second grade at L.B.E.S and graduated from U.C.H.S. in 2009, later graduating from F.S.C.J. with a degree in construction management. In 2010, I ran for this office as a Republican, losing by a small margin in the primary election. In 2012, I married my soulmate Sabrina Rooney (Norman) and since we’ve had two wonderful kids, Trace and Raegan Rooney.
To the voters of District 4 and Union County: I pledge to not be that stereotypical politician that we have all grown used to over the years. I will be available and involved in our district and county events. I will be open to hearing your concerns, issues and/or praises and willing to take them to the board. I will be the voice of all the people of District 4. I will keep you informed of anything that is going on to fix or resolve your issues to the best of my ability.
Do your due diligence, look into all the candidates. I encourage you not to vote for people because of last names or who they know; vote for someone who will actually represent you and your beliefs. Discuss your concerns with candidates, get their views and how they intend on working to resolve these concerns.
We live in a time right now were everything costs more than it did yesterday, all prices are going up and we need to do our best to keep taxes down. We go into this election with multiple Republican candidates, an independent and no Democratic candidates. As a lifelong Republican myself I know this is a big difference from years past as our county was mostly Democratic when we first moved here and now many voters are switching to the Republican party.
I would be honored to represent all the people of District 4. Remember your vote does matter and can make change. Help me be the voice of all of us. Vote J.R. Rooney this August.
