GREEN COVE SPRINGS—Clay County officials broke ground on a sheriff’s office shooting range between Camp Blanding and Middleburg on June 23.

In a news release, the county said the range would allow deputies to complete their required training and certifications locally. It will be open to residents several days a week.

The 200-foot long, 30-station range will be located on County Road 215, about halfway between Camp Blanding and Middleburg. The county said the facility should be open by the end of the year.
