MELROSE— The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Division of Law Enforcement said a Melrose woman drowned after being thrown from a boat on Tuesday, June 28.

According to an investigative report, Elizabeth Spisak, 56, was accompanying 68-year-old Paul Kolomitz while testing a new motor on his 1999 12-foot Gheenoe Water Bug.

FFW investigators wrote that while the pair were on the water, the boat suddenly dipped on the port side, throwing Spisak and Kolomitz into the lake.

After some time, the boat owner found Spisak and got her to shore. He administered CPR but was unable to revive the 56-year-old. Spisak was pronounced dead at 5:02 p.m.

Investigators said alcohol was not a factor in the incident, which occurred near Breezy Point Road East.
