KEYSTONE HEIGHTS— Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook said her agency arrested two juveniles for a string of auto burglaries in the High Ridge Estates neighborhood east of Keystone Heights.
Cook said the 14 and 16-year-olds were seen by deputies walking in the area of recent car break-ins.
One of the defendants had a gun hidden in his waistband that was recently stolen from a car.
She added that the pair confessed to seven auto burglaries involving 27 victims.
Cook said the thefts began a couple of weeks ago and stopped after the two juveniles were arrested.
“I know that we do still have some still open,” she said of the area’s auto burglary cases, “but we believe that these suspects are probably going to be responsible for most of them.”
