Candace Jackson, who’s a senior at Keystone Heights High School, received a $1,000 scholarship from Gainesville Junior Golf Tour for being its top female player this summer.

Jackson, who competes in the Girls 16-18 division, was coming off a win at the tour’s championship at Mark Bostick Golf Course at the University of Florida on Aug. 13. She shot an 18-hole score of 77, which would’ve been good enough for third place in the Boys 16-18 division.

In four previous events, Jackson was the Girls 16-18 winner three times. She shot an 84 on June 2 at Gainesville’s Hawkstone Country Club and on June 20 at Lake City’s Quail Heights Country Club. On July 11 at Gainesville’s Ironwood Golf Course, Jackson shot a 78. Her scores would’ve placed her second twice in the Boys 16-18 division and fourth once.

Jackson also took a second-place finish on June 27 at Mark Bostick Golf Course with a score of 86.

In the 2021 girls high school season, Jackson was the top player for KHHS. She earned medalist honors in seven matches, including winning the District 3-1A championship. She was named Female Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year at the Clay County Athletics Awards Show.
