Union County High School’s volleyball team bounced back from its first loss and will now attempt to avenge that loss when it hosts Class 4A Baker County tonight, Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m., following a junior varsity match at 5:30 p.m.
The Class 1A Tigers (6-1) lost 3-2 (24-26, 22-25, 25-21, 25-12, 15-7) at Baker County on Sept. 6, despite getting 27 kills and 24 digs from Jaycee Davis.
Kamryn Southerland had 21 digs and 21 assists, while Jordan Hendricks had 18 digs and 14 assists. Jurney Crim added 17 digs, while Emily Wilson had nine.
Jailyn Simmons had a solid outing as well with six kills and two blocks.
Union hosted Lafayette on Sept. 8, defeating the Hornets 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-12) to improve to 3-0 in District 6.
Davis recorded 12 kills, 11 digs, four service aces and three blocks. Simmons had nine kills and four blocks, while Morgyn Kirby and Wilson had three and two blocks, respectively. Wilson also had 14 digs.
Southerland and Hendricks tallied 13 and 12 assists, respectively, with Hendricks also recording eight digs.
Crim had eight digs, while Rylie Parrish had eight kills.
