Indians advance in volleyball district tourney

Keystone Heights High School advanced to the semifinals of the District 4-4A tournament with a 3-1 (25-17, 22-25, 25-17, 25-19) win over fifth-seed Tocoi Creek on Oct. 17.

The fourth-seed Indians (17-6) now play top-seed Bolles tonight (Oct. 18) at 7:30 p.m. at Jacksonville’s Bishop Kenny High School. Bolles is the sixth-ranked team in Class 4A.

Kamryn Eatmon and Kaitlin Brown had 12 and eight kills, respectively, while Kori Jennings had nine kills to go with her 33 assists. Kiersten Shaw and Sarah Siebert each had six kills.

Riley Barry, who had five kills, led the team in service aces with eight, while Eatmon and Kadence Carlton each had four.

Barry and Siebert each had two blocks, while Jules Padgett led the team in digs with 11.

Barry and Shaw each had six digs.

It was the third straight win for the Indians and their ninth win in 10 matches.

Keystone began the final week of the regular season with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-13) loss to host Middleburg on Oct. 10. Barry had five kills and four blocks, while Jennings had 13 assists, three aces and two blocks.

Shaw added three blocks.

On Oct. 12, the Indians defeated visiting Palatka 3-0 (25-12, 25-8, 25-7), getting seven kills and four aces from Eatmon and six kills and two blocks from Barry.

Jennings had 21 assists to go along with four aces, while Brown had five aces.

Padgett added 11 digs and three aces, while Siebert had five kills.

Keystone concluded the regular season with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-20) win over visiting Union County on Oct. 13. Jennings had 21 assists and six aces, while Eatmon and Barry had six and five kills, respectively.

Eatmon added four aces, while Barry also had two blocks.

Padgett and Carlton had 13 and six digs, respectively.

Shaw led the team in blocks with three, while Siebert had two.
