Union County High School placed third in an Oct. 17 golf match against Chiefland and Branford, but Caleb Zapp placed fourth overall as an individual with a score of 44.
The Tigers had a team score of 209, which put them 34 strokes behind Chiefland and six strokes behind Branford.
Zapp made a birdie and shot par on two holes.
Caleb Ripplinger, who made par on two holes, placed eighth with a score of 50, while Colby Dukes and Tucker Williams placed 11th and 13th, respectively, with scores of 56 and 59. Dukes made par on one hole.
Braden Adams shot a 15th-place score of 60. Patrick Maxwell and Jordan Seay had scores of 62 and 64, respectively, to place 16th and 17th.
The Tigers’ Zoe Elixson participated in a girls match that same day, placing 10th with a score of 67.
On Oct. 11, Union got a third-place finish from Zapp in placing third against Lafayette and Trenton.
Union had a score of 211— 35 strokes behind Lafayette and 28 strokes behind Trenton.
Zapp made par on three holes and finished with a score of 44.
Ripplinger and Elixson, who each made par on one hole, placed 10th and 12th, respectively, with scores of 53 and 56.
Williams shot a 13th-place score of 58, while Dukes, who made par on one hole, finished at 13th with a score of 62. Maxwell, who made par on one hole, shot a 67 to place 20th.
The District 3-1A boys and girls tournaments will take place next week at Lake City’s Quail Heights Country Club. The boys tournament is Monday, Oct. 24, while the girls tournament is Tuesday, Oct. 25. Both start at 9 a.m.
