Keystone Heights High School’s Candace Jackson was announced as a first-team selection in girls golf with the release of the Clay County School District’s All-County honors in fall sports.
Jackson won the individual District 3-1A championship for the second straight year with an 18-hole score of 77 and placed 16th at the Region 1 finals with a score of 85. She had Keystone’s top score in every match and earned overall first place in four matches. She was the overall runner-up in six matches.
Teammate M.J. Rivera received honorable mention. Rivera earned nine top-five finishes, including placing fourth at the District 3 finals with a score of 98.
Jackson and Rivera helped the Indians win the District 3 championship as a team.
Keystone’s volleyball team had two players earn second-team honors in Riley Barry and Kori Jennings. Barry had a team-high 59 blocks to go along with 147 kills, while Jennings led the team in assists with 586.
The Indians’ cross-country program also produced two second-team picks in siblings Tyler and Olivia Griffin. Tyler placed 19th out of 140 with a time of 17:58 at the District 2-2A finals, helping the boys team place eighth and earn a berth in the Region 1 finals. He would’ve qualified for the Region 1 meet even if his team hadn’t. Olivia earned the right to advance past the District 2 meet with a time of 24:02, which placed her 53rd out of 125.
In boys golf, Keystone had a second-team pick in Alex Addington, while teammate Connor Guy earned honorable mention. Addington was the District 3-1A runner-up with an 18-hole score of 78, while Guy tied for third with a score of 79. Their efforts helped Keystone win the team championship for the second straight year.
Guy tied for 18th at the Region 1 finals with a score of 80. Guy shot an 85 to tie for 29th.
The Indians’ football team had a second-team selection in cornerback Darrion Grady, while the following earned honorable mention: defensive lineman Tyler Anthony-Rozier, offensive lineman Brayden Wester and running backs Cartez Daniels and Bryar Schenck.
Grady had three interceptions to go along with 21 tackles. Athony-Rozier recorded 37 tackles, with three sacks and one caused fumble.
Wester helped pave the way for a rushing attack that averaged 5 yards per carry and 190 yards per game. Daniels led the team in rushing with 860 yards and seven touchdowns on 161 carries, while Schenck was second with 628 yards and seven touchdowns on 125 carries.
