STARKE— A 67-year-old Bradford County man was sentenced to two years in prison for attacking a 34-year-old Lawtey woman at a Starke self-storage facility.

Alvin Jerome Fayson pleaded no contest to felony battery. The state dropped additional charges of aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony and false imprisonment.

According to court papers, the incident occurred on Saturday, March 12, at Allen’s Attic on Water Street.

The victim said she drove to the facility to put her toolbox in a storage unit and was approached by the defendant, who offered her $500 in exchange for sex.

The victim told Starke police that the defendant resides in one of the storage units. She said she had spoken to the defendant before and has given him food.

The victim told officers that after she declined the $500 offer and then refused to drive the man to a convenience store down the street, the Fayson struck her in the mouth with a closed fist, busting her lip and damaging her teeth.

The woman then drove the man to the store. Fayson took the woman’s keys with him into the building, preventing her from leaving. After returning to the vehicle, he attacked the woman again for around 15 minutes, striking her, choking her and threatening to kill her.

On Oct. 18, the defendant was sentenced to 214 days in jail for possession of drug equipment.

The charges arose from a search of Fayson’s storage unit while police investigated the assault, battery and false imprisonment charges.

Fayson’s two-year prison term will begin after the defendant completes his jail sentence.
