The following individuals were arrested recently by local law enforcement officers in Bradford, Union or Clay (Keystone Heights-area) counties. All defendants are considered innocent until convicted in a court or until pleading guilty or no contest. Information in this report is from law enforcement agencies and court documents, which are public records.
Bradford
Threatened partner with knife
Anthony Michael Alsheimer, 39, of Starke was arrested by Bradford deputies on Dec. 19 for aggravated assault and possession of drugs.
According to an arrest report the defendant threatened to kill his partner and then himself.
“At this point in the argument,” wrote reporting officer T. Lovell, “Anthony became more belligerent and grabbed a kitchen knife and ran toward (the victim) with it. (The victim) stated that Anthony then dropped the knife as she was running outside to call law enforcement.”
Jordan Tyler Altstatt, 22, of Fernandina Beach was arrested by Bradford deputies on Dec. 19 for a probation violation.
Charles DeJuan Corbitt, 45, of Jacksonville was arrested on Dec. 21 for driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Threw rock through car window
Dexter Dewin Edwards, 45, of Lake Butler was arrested on Dec. 18 for criminal mischief with property damage, resisting an officer, throwing a missile into a vehicle and using a weapon while committing a felony.
According to an arrest report, the victim told deputies the defendant threw a rock through her vehicle window, causing between $1,000 and $1,500 in damages.
The incident occurred on State Road 16 near Northeast 17th Street, and deputies later found the defendant on a bicycle on State Road 16.
Reporting officer Jared Mallard wrote that as he and Deputy Robert Malley approached the defendant, Edwards squatted down behind a power pole and went through his backpack.
“When I approached,” wrote Mallard, “I observed a long, silver knife in Dexter’s hand as he stood up.”
After the officers ordered Edwards to drop the weapon, he complied. However, as the lawmen put the defendant into a patrol vehicle, Edwards resisted.
The deputy said Edwards denied throwing the rock. Mallard and Malley found a loaded handgun in the defendant’s backpack.
Willie James Heard, 64, of Starke was arrested on Dec. 22 for a parole violation.
Christopher Richard Kimbrell, 23, of Starke was arrested on Dec. 22 for trespassing and resisting an officer.
Shaun David Koonce, 40, of Starke was arrested on Dec. 23 for vehicle theft.
Forged check, sold stolen gun
Angela Maria Dawn Maddix, 34, of Starke was arrested by Starke police on Dec. 21 for forgery and dealing in stolen property.
According to court papers, a family member of the defendant’s told Starke police Maddix volunteered to take his light bill to the City of Starke because the family member had just gotten out of the hospital.
“Angela took an additional check out of (the victim’s) purse and took it to Community State Bank and cashed it,” wrote reporting officer Courtney Personette. “(The victim) did not give Angela permission to take a check and cash it… (The victim) only gave permission for Angela to take a check to the City of Starke town hall to pay the light bill.”
An employee of the bank told police the defendant made three attempts to cash the check at the bank’s drive-through.
“(The witness) stated that the first check was made out for the City of Starke, and they did not accept it,” wrote the officer. “Angela then crossed out the City of Starke and wrote in her own name, and they did not accept that check either. Angela then came through the drive-through for the third time and cashed (the victim’s) check for two hundred and sixty dollars.”
In a separate report, police wrote that after a Starke man reported three guns stolen from his home in August, they received information from Bradford deputies that a Keystone Heights man became suspicious after purchasing a firearm from Maddix.
The buyer told police he purchased the 0.22-caliber from Maddix for $100. A few days later Maddix contacted the buyer, saying the person who gave her the gun was being investigated for theft, and Maddix did not know if the weapon had been stolen or not. The buyer called law enforcement, which traced the gun to the August theft.
Therious Orlando McCloud, 41, of Starke was arrested by Starke police on Dec. 19 for driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Nick McCray, 36, of Waldo was arrested on Dec. 20 for a parole violation.
Michelle Lee Nelson, 46, of Starke was arrested on Dec. 24 for DUI.
Latrell Reshard Owens, 44, of Melrose was arrested on Dec. 23 for an out-of-county warrant.
Chad Alex Prevatt, 58, of Hampton was arrested by Bradford deputies on Dec. 22 for sexual assault and lewd and lascivious behavior.
Zodia Sadie Robbins, 32, of Lawtey was arrested on Dec. 22 for a probation violation.
Joseph Karl Rowe, 21, of Starke was arrested by Bradford deputies on Dec. 20 for resisting an officer, vehicle theft, probation violations, possession of drugs and possession of drug equipment.
Christian Andrew Smith, 25, of Starke was arrested on Dec. 21 for failure to appear.
Ciera Nicole Stitt, 20, of Starke was arrested by Bradford deputies on Dec. 18 for aggravated battery.
Adam Svitek, 38, of Keystone Heights was arrested by Bradford deputies on Dec. 21 for driving with a suspended or revoked license, driving a vehicle without registration and attaching a tag not assigned.
Shawn Dwayne Wright, 45, of Starke was arrested by Starke police on Dec. 17 for DUI.
Union
Edgar Allen Emmelhainz III, 34, of Lake Butler was arrested by Union deputies on Dec. 21 for battery.
William Kyle Combee, 30, of Lake Butler was arrested by Union deputies on Dec. 19 for an out-of-county warrant.
Clay
Scott Gene Ballou, 34, of Keystone Heights was arrested by Clay deputies on Dec. 21 for trespassing.
Nicholas Scott Barnhardt, 54, of Starke was arrested by Clay deputies on Dec. 22 for video voyeurism.
Heather Marie Dunton, 19, of Keystone Heights was arrested by Clay deputies on Dec. 20 for battery.
India Morgan Johns, 24, of Keystone Heights was arrested by Clay deputies on Dec. 21 for possession of marijuana and possession of drug equipment,
Melissa Sue Piper, 36, of Keystone Heights was arrested by Clay deputies on Dec. 17 for failure to appear.
John Ashton Valenzuela, 27, of Keystone Heights was arrested by Clay deputies on Dec. 19 for vandalism.
