FHP searching for hit-and-run suspect

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS— The Florida Highway Patrol said two pedestrians were injured when a vehicle hit the pair near First Baptist Church and fled the scene.

Troopers said in a news release that a 19-year-old Jacksonville man and a 17-year-old Keystone Heights girl were walking along Walker Avenue (State Road 100) near Myrtle Street when the collision occurred.

“An unknown vehicle traveling westbound collided with both pedestrians and left the scene, the state agency said. “Evidence on scene indicated the unknown vehicle could be a 2016 – 2018 White Chevy Silverado. The vehicle will have damage on the passenger side near the headlight assembly.”

FHP said the male pedestrian suffered critical injuries and the female escaped with minor injuries in the 5 a.m., Monday, Jan. 2 crash.
