Keystone Heights High School had successful seasons in junior varsity soccer, with the boys team finishing with an 8-1 record and the girls team ending its season at 8-2-1.
The girls team played its season finale on Jan. 19, defeating visiting Crescent City 5-0. Tayler Buchanan scored two goals, while Madison Brinson, Evie Hallberg and Kaylee Park each scored one.
Buchanan, Kayden Huntley, Juliette Marini and Alyssa Sanford each recorded one assist, while goalkeeper Xana Briley made nine saves.
The win immediately followed a 1-1 tie against Middleburg and was the Indians’ eighth straight match without a loss.
Buchanan was the team’s leader in goals scored, while Briley made more than 80 saves.
On the boys side, the Indians got two goals from Ryder Thomas in defeating visiting Palatka 4-1 on Jan. 20. Noah Jaramillo and Jacob Stahmann each scored a goal as well, while Jaramillo, Thomas and A.J. Nilsen each had an assist.
Keystone won six straight to close out the season. During that span, Nilsen scored 13 goals and had six assists, while Thomas had seven goals and seven assists.
