Keystone Heights High School’s Riley McGorty and Steven Raab each advanced to the second round of the consolation bracket before being eliminated in the Region 1-1A wrestling finals, which were held Feb. 24-25 in Wewahitchka.
McGorty (120-pound class) lost in the first round after getting pinned in 27 seconds by Bay’s David Drake. He then advanced in the consolation bracket off a forfeit before being pinned in 1:53 by Baker County’s Taz Kinghorn.
Raab (220) was put into the consolation bracket after getting pinned in 3:20 by Fernandina Beach’s Peyton White. He then pinned Bay’s Garrett Pelt in 51 seconds before his tournament ended with a loss to Suwannee’s Sam Ballard, who pinned Raab in 2:53.
Atreyu Contes and Alyx Nichols also participated for Keystone. Each went 0-2.
