STARKE— A Bradford County jury convicted a 22-year-old Melrose man of first-degree murder.
Ted Qwon Lee McGowan was also found guilty of vehicle theft.
According to a sworn complaint, the defendant was sitting in a silver, four-door Chrysler 300 on Nov. 5, 2021, in front of the Pecan Tree Apartments on East Brownlee Street.
Starke police Detective Chris Keel wrote in the complaint that the victim: Joshua C. Demps was also in the car, in addition to others.
“One of the passengers stated that McGowan and Demps began to argue about (one of the car’s occupants) going to McGowan’s house,” Keel wrote in the complaint. “(The witness) stated that Demps began to pull (the occupant) out of the vehicle, at which time McGowan exited the vehicle, walked up behind Demps, pulled out a gun, and started shooting.”
