Visiting Ridgeview scored six unanswered runs in defeating the Keystone Heights High School softball team 9-4 on Feb. 27.

The Indians (0-3) fell behind 3-0 in the top of the third, but answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Amber Wagner hit a two-run homer, followed by a triple by Kiley Channell. Channell would score on a wild pitch.

Keystone took a 4-3 lead off an Abbie Roach double in the fourth, but the Panthers would score six runs in the final three innings.

Channell and Roach each went 3 for 4, accounting for all but three of the team’s hits.

The Indians entered the game off a 7-5, eight-inning loss to visiting Baker County on Feb. 24.

A two-run home run helped the Wildcats go up 4-0 in the first inning, but Keystone began to rally with a two-run third, which featured an RBI double by Wagner and an RBI single by Channell.

Keystone made it a one-run game when it scored off an error in the fourth. Another error in the fifth allowed the Indians to score again and tie it at 4-4.

Baker took advantage of three hits, a walk, an error and a sacrifice fly to score three runs in the top of the eighth.

Channell reached on an error to lead off the bottom of the eighth and later scored on another error, but the Indians couldn’t get any other runners on base.

All of Keystone’s hits came from Channell and Wagner, who each went 2 for 4.

The Indians travel to play Tocoi Creek on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. and will host Pierson Taylor on Thursday, March 2, at 7 p.m. Keystone then travels to play Fleming Island on Monday, March 6, at 6 p.m.
