According to an arrest report, the victim told officers she was driving on U.S. 301 with the defendant sitting in the front passenger seat.

“(The victim) advises while at the red light at S. Walnut and Commercial Drive Trenton Edsall began choking her,” wrote reporting officer Jay Raulerson.  “She advised that he choked her for about 30 seconds, and she could not breathe during this time.”

The victim said she continued driving southbound on 301 and “Edsall kept grabbing the steering wheel and making her go into the outside lane almost hitting other cars.”

The victim added that when she got close to the IHOP Restaurant, she found a grassy area on Hazen Street and pulled in.

“She attempted to get out of the car,” Raulerson wrote, “but Trenton Edsall grabbed her right arm and pulled her back into the car and would not let her leave. She attempted to get out of the car to no avail.”

The driver was then able to get to IHOP’s parking lot and started blowing her horn until customers from within the restaurant helped her escape.

After the victim exited the car, the defendant hopped into the driver’s seat and fled the scene.

Police chased the defendant onto the expressway, onto State Road 100 and then to Southwest 162nd Terrace where Edsall jumped out of the vehicle and into the woods.
