BHS girls tennis team defeats Baker Co. 5-1

Bradford High School hosted Baker County in tennis on March 9, with the girls team winning 5-1.

Lexie Wells earned an 8-3 win at number-one singles, while Reagan Harris’ number-two match went to a tiebreaker, with Harris coming away with an 8-8 (10-7) win.

Brooklynn Reddish and Caitlyn Jackson, playing at the number-three and number-four spots, respectively, won by scores of 8-4 and 8-0.

Harris and Wells teamed up for an 8-2 win at number-one doubles. The team up Mary Jane Lebert and Kasey Thompson came up just short, losing 8-5.

Calum Butler had the only win for the boys team, which lost 6-1. Butler came out on top at number-two singles by an 8-4 score.

The rest of the team’s singles matches were close affairs. Hayden Knight lost 8-8 (10-8) at number-four singles, while Gideon Jordan (number one) and Nikolas Vargas (number five) each lost 9-7. Troy Smith (number three) lost 8-6.

In doubles, Butler and Jordan lost 8-2, while Knight and Smith lost 8-3.
