Clay County Fair opens

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS—Officials opened the Clay County Agricultural Fair on Thursday, March 30.

The festivities included the entry of the fair board of directors on a parade float and appearances by the Clay High drum line and sheriff’s office color guard.

Fair Manager Tasha Hyder said this year’s edition of the event features five new rides and 12 more food options than the 2022 fair.

The fair’s oldest volunteer Lemmie Kirkland, 95, cut the ribbon at the front gate to officially open the 11-day event. Kirkland volunteers in the Early Florida Village, which features a soap-making exhibit, sawmill, outhouse, general store and the Penny Farms jailhouse and schoolhouse.
