KEYSTONE HEIGHTS— City and county officials welcomed the return of the MotoSurf Games at Lake Geneva during a ceremony on Saturday, April 21.

County Commissioner Kristen Burke said MotoSurf and MotoSkate competitions occur at venues in 15 countries worldwide, and the event at Lake Geneva puts the Lake Region on the world stage with coverage from CBS Sports.

Mayor Nina Rodenroth thanked the Keystone Heights High School band, JROTC color guard and cheerleaders for participating in the opening ceremony, in addition to the Clay High School cheerleading squad.

“You have showcased our small southern town just perfectly, which we really, really appreciate,” she said.

MotoSurf Director Martin Jancelek said competitors from the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Europe would compete over the weekend.

He also pointed to MotoSurf USA’s new junior surfer initiative, intended to promote the emerging sport to young people.

 “The junior movement is the future of our sport,” he said.
