STARKE— Union deputies arrested a 38-year-old Lake Butler man after he refused to turn the volume down on his music.

Branden William Dukes was arrested on April 19 for disturbing the peace.

According to an arrest report, deputies responded to a complaint of loud music coming from a white Ford F-350 parked in front of a residence on Northeast First Street in Lake Butler.

“Contact was made with Branden Dukes, who stated that he was unaware that his music was that loud and that he would turn it down,” wrote Deputy Lowell A. Green in an arrest report.

However, later that same evening, shortly before midnight, the sheriff’s office received a second complaint about loud music coming from the vehicle.

“Deputy Sheriff Word and myself responded and could again hear loud music coming from the vehicle,” reported Green. “Deputy Sheriff Word made contact with Branden and again asked him to turn the music down. Branden began to become irate and began yelling, ‘Y’all need to get the (expletive deleted) up out of here. You messed with the wrong one!”

The two lawmen then ordered Dukes into his home then relocated to a Subway restaurant across the street to monitor the defendant’s compliance.

The deputy wrote that the two officers could hear loud music coming from the defendant’s residence, and dispatch received a third complaint about the noise.

“Sergeant Andrews, (Deputy) Word and myself walked up to the residence where we could hear loud music coming from a portable speaker placed on the railing of the porch and observed Branden sitting on the porch drinking an alcoholic beverage,” the deputy wrote. “Before contact was made, Branden stated ‘The (expletive deleted) did I do wrong? I’m at my house.”

“Branden was taken into custody and transported to the Union County Jail,” wrote the officer.
