Leah Clark and Tamia Young combined for six hits, but the Union County High School softball team needed the rest of its lineup to contribute in order to play catch-up in what was a 10-4 loss to Fort White on May 2 in the semifinals of the District 6-1A tournament in Branford.

The third seed Tigers (5-13) scored first when Clark singled and scored on an error in the top of the first. Fort White (9-9), the tournament’s fourth seed, tied it in the second before scoring four runs in the third.

Union trailed 10-1 before scoring three runs in the seventh. Hayley Burke walked, while Hailey Rivera was hit by a pitch. Both scored on a triple by Young. Young, who went 4 for 4, scored on the play as well.

Clark finished 2 for 4.

The rest of the team, besides Clark and Young, went a combined 1 for 20.
