Clark is highest finisher from area schools at Region 1-2A track meet

Bradford, Keystone Heights and Union County high schools had athletes compete at the Region 1-2A track and field meet at the University of North Florida on May 3, with the Tigers’ Leah Clark placing the highest with a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 100m and 200m.

Clark ran a time of 12.70 in 100m and a time of 25.95 in the 200m.

Athletes had to place in the top two to automatically qualify for the state finals.

Union earned a pair of sixth-place finishes on the boys side, with the 4x100m team of Dayquan Diston, Rayvon Durant, Auntrell Ross and Thomas Williams running a time of 43.76 and Ross jumping 21-9 in the long jump.

Ross also competed in the 200m, running a 10th-place time of 22.67.

The Tigers had an eighth-place finish in the girls 4100m relay, with Clark, Amia Bethea, Holly Halfacre and Ny’asia Jones running a time of 51.91.

Keystone’s Shepherd Rozier took eighth in the boys 400m, running a time of 52.80.

The Indians’ Kiersten Shaw was 11th in the high jump (4-6), while the Tigers’ Bethea was 11th in the 100m (13.11).

Bradford’s Kaelyn Booker was 12th in the girls 400m with a time of 1:04.

Keystone’s Marissa Dowell was 15th in the long jump (13-10.5), while Bradford’s Jordan Barton, Krystian Harris, Chayten Sanders and Hayden Starling teamed up for a 16ht-place finish in the 4x800m (10:25).
