KEYSTONE HEIGHTS— A Lake Region man who says he wants to eradicate methamphetamine and fentanyl from Clay County has filed to challenge Sheriff Michelle Cook in the Republican primary for sheriff.

In a candidate’s statement filed with the Supervisor of Elections office, Matthew Tomas O’Berry wrote that he realizes the gravity of the challenge.

“Yes. Those are big shoes to fill,” the candidate wrote in his statement. “The drugs are getting so bad. I want to irritcate [sic] all meth and fentanyl. Do that and the crime will start to trend downward.”

“Im [sic] asking for your support to help the next generation of children break the cycle of drug abuse and domestic violence,” O’Berry continued. “im [sic] your man to bring us all together and break the hold of addiction.”
