Keystone Heights High School had its best team scores of the year in two boys golf matches against Hope Christian Academy, which is fielding a team for the first time in school history.
On Sept. 5, the Indians had a team score of 152 to Hope’s 259. Keystone’s Connor Guy, who had a birdie and made par on seven holes, was the medalist with a score of 36. Teammate Alex Addington, who had a birdie and made par on six holes, was one stroke behind him in placing second.
Keystone’s Ty Mitzel, who had three birdies and made par on three holes, was third with a score of 39, while the Indians’ Jacob Beach and Nick Binet each shot a 40 to tie for fourth. Beach had an eagle and two birdies and made par on three holes, while Binet had two birdies and made par on three holes.
The Indians’ Shepherd Rozier, who made par on five holes, shot a sixth-place score of 48.
Hope’s Jack Stack, who had a birdie and made par on two holes, placed seventh with a score of 52, while teammate Blayne Wilkinson, who had a birdie, was eighth with a score of 63.
The Lions’ Luke Drew, Jude Dugat, Jacob Elmore and Ben Whalen each shot a 72.
In the second match between the teams, which took place on Sept. 12, Addington and Guy each tied for first as the Indians finished with a team score of 152. Hope’s score was 255.
Addington and Guy each shot a 35. Addington had an eagle and made par on seven holes, while Guy had three birdies and made par on four holes.
Binet and Mitzel each shot 41 to tie for third. Binet had a birdie and made par on three holes, while Mitzel had two birdies and made par on two holes.
Begue and Beach, who each made par on three holes, placed fifth and sixth, respectively, with scores of 44 and 45. Begue had a birdie.
Stack, who placed seventh, led Hope with a score of 47. He made par on three holes.
Wilkinson shot an eighth-place score of 64, while Drew, Elmore and Whalen each shot a 72 to tie for ninth.
