Stole from retailer, hit daughter

STARKE—A 52-year-old Lake Butler woman was sentenced to drug offender probation for five years after pleading to felony battery and theft.

Katrina McSpadden was accused of stealing a towel from a Hampton Dollar General and hitting her daughter after the family member refused to give her a ride.

According to court documents, a Dollar General employee told deputies that on Nov. 22, 2022, the defendant walked through the store, filling up a shopping basket with merchandise and slipping a children’s hooded towel into her backpack. When she reached the front of the store, she abandoned the basket and left the premises with the towel in the bag.

The family member told a deputy on July 3, 2023, that her mother asked her for a ride into town to get groceries, and the woman refused to let the mother go along.

When the daughter returned home, she noticed that a solar yard light had been damaged and her doorbell camera had been ripped off the wall. When she continued inside, the defendant confronted her, blocked her progress, and struck her three times in the face.
